Update 5.2 - 04-20-08
We're having a sale.
What? We never have sales.

Well, in our old age and impending domestication we have decided to clean up Slowdance HQ and make some room (for throw pillows mostly) around our cluttered workspace. So here is the deal, buy a CD, get a CD for free.

Holy crap.

Let me repeat that, buy a CD, get a CD for free. Before you get to clicking away, there are four catches:

1. You can't buy two CDs from the same artist. This isn't us being cruel, just suggesting that you branch out in your purchases. Want to buy a Velvet Teen CD, but you've never heard The New Trust? Now is your chance. For free.

2. The CD you purchase, it needs to be a full-length. No funny stuff like buying a $5 EP and then requesting a free CD. I can guarantee you that we are poorer than you. Let's have a poor-off. We'll win.

3. No vinyl. This deal is for compact discs only. If we made cassingles (I wish!), they wouldn't count either.

4. This offer only applies to the USA and Canada. Sorry rest of the globe, but we'd lose our shirt if we had to pay postage on free global orders. And trust us, you don't want to see us without a shirt on.

To take advantage of this offer just request what CD you want in the "special instructions" box in your order. And yes, if you order two full-lengths, you can get two CDs for free. Our generosity knows no end.

Update 5.1 - 01-29-08
Last year's mighty trek across the country was clearly not enough to feed the tour beast that lives within, so THE VELVET TEEN is headed back out on the road for a series of dates with Aloha. The tour dates are right here, please attend.

Update 5.0 - 11-2-07
WEAR A LITTLE THE VELVET TEEN
Brand new shirts from THE VELVET TEEN, get 'em while they are hot.

Not literally hot, of course. They are made of cotton and I assume that is a flammable substance.

Update 4.9 - 10-23-07
INTRAMURAL = NOW
Not to get all weepy-eyed about it, but for over three years we tried our best to release this INTRAMURAL record, but the project just dragged on and on. Vocalists came and went, fancy lawyers shuffled paperwork and we just kept delaying the release. Another week. Another month. Anther year.

But now finally, after such a long wait, it is here. In stores the world over, This is a Landslide, the long-awaited release from INTRAMURAL. If you order from us, you'll get a fancy little button set, or you can pick up the CD at your local mom & pop store and even online, if mp3 files (and no artwork! why?) are your bag.

THE VELVET TEEN STILL ON THE LONESOME HIGHWAY
Much like a seasoned drifter with outstretched thumb lingering above the empty highway (or maybe like Lorenzo Lamas in Renegade), THE VELVET TEEN are traveling this lonesome country, looking for adventure. Yes, there is a new lineup. No, Judah won't go to prom with you. If they are coming anywhere near your hometown, please do not miss them. Click here for the tour dates.

Oh, new Velvet Teen shirts soon. Like, next week.

THE NEW TRUST ON A NEW TOUR!
To celebrate the release of the fantastic Dark Is The Path Which Lies Before Us album, THE NEW TRUST will spend the next month or so crammed tightly together in a van. Good thing they have tons of brand new merch with them, some of which we have in-stock in our online store. This includes these cool new t-shirts and hoodies. Yeah, hoodies, FINALLY!

Update 4.4 - 01-22-07
IT'S TIME FOR THE NEW TRUST!
We've been doing this scrappy 'lil record label for close to nine years now, sad, I know. In all those years, I can't say that I've absolutely adored a record more than I do Dark Is The Path Which Lies Before Us, the brand new album from THE NEW TRUST. The record, which took years to make, is a sly ode to the waning years of youth, complete with clever songwriting and some downright revolutionary ideas. We're very happy that the record is now officially out.

In addition to our handsomely packaged CD, we have copies of the imited-edition (hand numbered!) 7" box set. Released by Pandacide Records, these four separate 7"s come packaged together in a handsome box. Peep the packaging right here.

If you order from our online store, we'll toss in a copy of the limited-edition Dark Is The Path… Remixes. Featuring the re-working skills of Intramural (Denver of Statistics & Desaparecidos), Hanalei, Little Cat & tons more. I'm not going to lie to you, most all remix CDs totally suck. But this one is a huge exception, as it features more reinterpretations of songs, than techno beats or whatever the remix standard is these days. To prove my point, here is a MP3 of "Chill the Fuck Out" remixed by Battle of Hastings. Download it here. See? Told you.

Hey, let's listen to some other brand-new MP3s from THE NEW TRUST:
Evolve Into Nothing and The Body and The Brain

Now that the record is finally out, the band is going to tour. They'll be making the rounds all over the USA, including a large stint of shows with the fantastic Ambulette (ex-Denali). Also in the coming weeks we'll have some handsome new t-shirts from the band, plus hoodies! Yes, hoodies! Finally!!

Oh, and the press thinks Dark Is The Path Which Lies Before Us is pretty amazing as well:

"Relying on thoughful writing, wiry, discordant guitars and nimble bass—all delivered with punchy post-punk aplomb—The New Trust are the perfect foil to The Velvet Teen's lush, layered alt-rock." - Alternative Press
- - - - - - -
"The New Trust is a place to believe in." - Wonka Vision
- - - - - - -
"Songwriting like this isn't the sort of thing you can put on the back burner. It needs, nay, demands, the voice The New Trust gives it. Regardless, the path ahead of The New Trust is a treacherous one. Let's hope the outfit makes it through the darkness that lies ahead. Godspeed you, New Trust." - Aversion
- - - - - - -
"If you're looking for direct comparisons, I'd point a finger at New York's Pilot To Gunner, but I'd turn the lights off to add a healthy dose of darkness, and I'd make a point to say that the lyrical content is much more cryptic and haunting. It's a rhythmic venture of renegade spiritualism, entangled against nature, mortality and love." - Thrasher

THE VELVET TEEN ON DAYTROTTER
This past October, deep in the urban jungles of Rock Island, IL, THE VELVET TEEN made their way to Futureappletree Studios to record a live session for Daytrotter. If you were unaware, what Daytrotter does is kidnap touring indie bands and force them to record songs, which are then posted for free download on their site. Sort of like an Indie Symbionese Liberation Army (with much better cred), Daytrotter has posted some downright amazing material, and you should definitely check it out. There are four songs from b>THE VELVET TEEN on the site, so stop reading this and start downloading...

ALL THINGS VELVET TEEN!
Tour is done and the band is back home, focusing on the holiday season and perfecting their caroling and Xmas tree decorating skills. Egg Nog anyone?

Oh, don't you dare forget, we have Cum Laude in 12" LPs now, so get cracking.

If you missed THE VELVET TEEN on their epic travels with Minus the Bear, here's a little treat for you. This live video shows the band brilliantly performing "Noi Boy" to a packed crowd in SF. Enjoy!

update 3.6 - 07-10-06
EVENING TIME!
Hooray! THE EVENING EPISODE's The Physicist Has Known Sin have now gone on sale. You can buy it at any fine (preferably indie) record store, or if you order it from us, you will get a cool 3-piece button set and an autographed poster from the band, while supplies last. ORDER HERE!

How good is The Physicist Has Known Sin you ask? Well, you can hear for yourself by streaming four songs on the media player, and downloading two songs, "Lovely Creatures"and "New Love."

Not only that, Alternative Press recently said the following about THE EVENING EPISODE: "Equally adept at expressing their literate art rock through whispers or Theremin wobbles, the Evening Episode carry a wide sonic envelope and they aren't afraid to push it." Wow, cool. The band is currently on tour, check out the current batch of tour dates right here, and there are more coming shortly.

CUM LAUDE NOW!
There is just so much news about THE VELVET TEEN, we don't know where to start.

Let's begin with the pre-orders. Starting right this very second, you can pre-order their latest (and best) album, Cum Laude RIGHT HERE! Not only will you get the new album, you'll get a limited-edition lyric book. These handsome offset-printed booklets include artwork and lyrics that span the band's career, and they are limited to 500 hand-numbered copies.

Next up, the video. Since writing, singing, playing a bazillion instruments, making art and recording Cum Laude is clearly not enough work for Judah Nagler, he decided to make this video as well. It's for "Tokyoto" and don't watch it too closely since it might cause more seizures than that one Pokemon epoisode. Safety first, people!

Just a reminder, Cum Laude is out on Tuesday July 25th. We added a couple more tour dates, and we promise a whole lot more are coming shortly.
