Capricorn

December 22 – January 19

“I Accomplish”

Professionally ambitious, responsible, disciplined, realistic, solid, dependable, a leader, values tradition and family life, great sense of humor.

Saturn teaches you, dear Capricorn, to be ambitious, practical, wise, earthy, and ethical. It’s widely known that you will to do whatever it takes to get to the top of your career—small wonder that you do get to the top. Of all the signs, Capricorn is said to produce the most responsible, wise leaders. Admittedly, this sign can be a bit of a workaholic, but you relish your job so dearly, that you have convinced everyone that your work is your play that you get paid to do. Capricorns do best in big multi-national companies, for they can clearly see what the next step will be to the top.

Capricorn’s vigorous self-discipline is legendary and the secret to this sign’s success. Like the mountain goat that symbolizes this sign, you often prefer to take the harder, more arduous route to the top because of your distrust of using shortcuts. Indeed, “thorough” is your middle name. However, Capricorns are not grim Scrooges. Capricorn is best known for having a fantastic sense of humor. Many of our best comics were born under this sign.

In love you can be choosy, but once coupled up, you are loving and giving and a bedrock of fidelity. Family and tradition are important to you, and as a Capricorn, you will always make time to attend family occasions, such as children’s recitals and even (if invited) your mate’s client dinners.

Although the female Capricorn has an icy cool “goddess” exterior, she can be amazingly passionate, earthy, and erotic in the bedroom. The same can be said of the male Capricorn. In fact, in astrology, it’s said that signs symbolized by animals with horns (like Capricorn) are generally highly erotic.

Earth – Capricorn’s steady demeanor and obvious fairness and care for those workers in their employ make them outstanding leaders and managers.

Saturn – planet of maturity, responsibility, structure, and leadership. Saturn also rules the concept of time.

Neutral colors of nature at the time of the year you were born are often your favorites. Black, navy, caramel, butterscotch, warm coffee-ice cream beige, pink beige of sand, cream or off-white, snow white, oatmeal, mushroom, and chocolate brown.

Hibiscus and jasmine.

Garnet.

Capricorn adores tradition and loves a cozy, warm home that envelops her family and friends the moment they enter. Wood is always favored in a Capricorn home—think about using dark wood beams across the ceiling to add a warm touch (even to a modern décor). Wood is fortunate for you, so in the study, you might use wood paneling on one or more sides of the room. A club-like atmosphere fits your style. Make your couches soft and cushiony or made of buttery leather.

As a Capricorn, you love marble in white, white with pale blue strains, cream, beige, or taupe, so you might use marble liberally in your bathrooms, kitchen, and on the coffee table in your living room. A beautiful old tapestry wall hanging would add surprise, warmth, and texture to your home. You like elegant patterns in all forms, so you might enjoy having a rug in pale beige and white patterns or a valuable oriental rug.

Your favorite holidays come in December and January. You will decorate in a particularly beautiful, engaging way, and friends love coming over, for your entertaining skills are superb. Like Libra, you like to follow correct social graces, and your knowledge of how to set a beautiful table shows.

When searching for a place to live, if you can find a house or apartment with a working fireplace, you would be overjoyed. Capricorn is tied to history, estates, and all that is valuable from the past. You enjoy family heirlooms, so if you have your grandmother’s silver tea service or grandfather’s beloved clock, display those treasures.

Saturn is your ruler, so you like solid, impressive furniture, and veer away from anything flimsy or unstable. Your home must be welcoming and enchanting, and when friends and family visit, you want them to stay. The year-end holidays give you reason to go all out with festive decorations. Your friends have no idea how you do it—manage a major job, take care of family, and entertain with style. As they say, ask a busy person to do something and it gets done.

Not only do you invite friends and family over, but because you, as a Capricorn, are an ambitious sign, you might often entertain clients or high-level executives there, too.

Leo may be royalty, but as a Capricorn, you, too, have the sensibilities of a princess. You would love an elegant, refined pattern for your china, so consider your dinner and dessert plates rimmed in shimmering gold with texture—each one a little different within the theme. Allow the charger plate to support the beauty of your china by choosing white porcelain.

Staying with the less-is-more theme, keep your crystal simple, with clean lines, although if you would prefer more traditional hand cut crystal glassware, those would work beautifully, too. Choose linen napkins edged in gold threads. You would want candlesticks made of crystal to set the mood of your dinner in your castle. Guests will be transported to a world you’ve spun and will always remember.

You would find great inspiration in a comedy club. Capricorns take their work so seriously that it would be good for you to go out to a comedy club to enjoy yourself. Capricorns are known to have a funny bone, and our best comics are Capricorns because they make fun of all that is truly important to all of us. You can’t laugh at things that are not important to you, and that’s a fact. If going to a comedy club is not possible, then watching late night TV for a bit of humor will help, too.

As a Capricorn, you have a natural love of history, so if you can find a castle to hold your reception—something on the order of Downton Abby—that would be ideal. The idea of something rich in tradition might appeal to you deeply.

The knees, bones, and teeth.

Capricorns like food that has not been overly prepared. You feel that the natural flavors of fresh food are enough—why gild the lily, you ask. Steak, chicken, or turkey with fresh vegetables and perhaps a simply baked potato is delicious and enough—in your mind, there is no need for sauces. Saturn often keeps Capricorn slim and it’s no wonder, judging by your healthy approach to food. When it comes to your reception, you will follow suit with a menu that will please all. You might hold your party in a private, wood-paneled club to which you belong, for as a rule, Capricorns love private clubs.

As an earth sign, you might like to be among soaring mountains. Many Capricorns play golf—if you do and your partner does too, find a resort with a renowned golf course (or take lessons). Saturn gives you an appreciation of history, so consider going to a historical location where there are many ruins of the past to explore, like Rome, Athens, Bethlehem, Jerusalem, the Pyramids, or Chichen Itza.

These locations are just examples—there are many more—but the point is, any city or location that would allow you to dig into history would fascinate you. Finally, your sign often loves antiques, so go to a place such as Portobello Road in London to bring home a treasure that you will always associate with your honeymoon.
