Swan Service Indian Flower Branch Bowl

This ornate bowl is part of the famous "Swan Service", one of the Meissen manufactory's most magnificent dinner services, an impressive testimony to the Baroque period that took around five years to complete. It is hand-painted with Indian flower branches and scattered flowers and is the perfect example of traditional Meissen craftsmanship. Not all tableware is the same: this beautiful bowl carries a piece of history and, not least because it is naturally hand-painted and handmade, is itself a sculptural work of art. As part of the famous dinner service, it is also adorned with the eponymous swan couple, which designer Joachim Kaendler took from drawings and copperplate engravings from Dresden.
