Gabriel Currant Luncheon Plate

When the ancient Roman city of Pompeii was unearthed in the early eighteenth century, designers at the time revived classical motifs such as angels and laurel wreaths. Our trumpeting Archangel Gabriel is adapted in porcelain from a rare pattern book dated 1777, now in the collection of Colonial Williamsburg. This red luncheon plate can also be used with other patterns.
